3Q20

We would climb trees
she and I
we would put up blankets in the branches in hide
we would see birds in their nests
and thought we should make one too but
humans aren't very good at being birds
if we fell from the tree we didn't cry
it look five seconds to get back up and try again
we could go to the top in the winter or spring
depending on how many flowers were blooming
and making us sneeze

it used to be within me to smile with ease
I used to be able to find pleasure in things
it's a loss like no other
not a father or a brother
but a piece of me that makes me whole
I am not a complete person
I'm just a fragment of what I used to be
I used to be happy and now happy is just another word to me

he doesn't sit in his chair right
his legs are crossed ways we didn't know they could cross
his smile is so crooked that when he smiles
you don't know if he's frowning or smiling
he's interesting
he likes dinosaurs and says he likes concrete
he also enjoys watching chefs make mac and cheese specifically

I place one object, no, two on the white counter
their dark grays and blacks pop out at you
it's like my bed with it's black and white covers
the black and white pillows and the occasional stuffed animal
that's a brighter color

eating without cares

i don't have any

the funny noise someone makes when they sneeze
the weird quirks people show in specific situations
like
they hate the color green
or they think that desks are the smartest idea to ever exist
other than iced coffee
when people think they can rap
the fact my english teacher thinks I'm actually going to do work for his class
ah
that makes me laugh
